Rocky Point Sugar Mill

The Rocky Point Sugar Mill project received a $350,000 grant under the Renewable Energy Industry Program and was a stepping stone to the construction of the largest year-round biomass plant within the Australian sugar industry.

The aim of this project was to ascertain whether sugar milling boiler technology could burn biomass sources other than bagasse and whether there was sufficient renewable biomass fuel for yearround operation of the plant. Year round operation would take advantage of plant economies of scale and maximise the use of the considerable capital invested in this operation.

The Rocky Point Sugar Mill renewable energy project went on to be awarded a Renewable Energy Showcase grant of $3 million towards the construction of a $55 million biomass cogeneration plant
attached to the Rocky Point Sugar Mill.

Gabba

The Gabba Redevelopment :: CONSTRUCTION


Brisbane, Australia, situated about one kilometre from the city centre. The name 'Gabba' is derived from the suburb of Woolloongabba in which the ground is situated. In the winter months, the ground is used for the home games of the Brisbane Lions AFL team. The venue is also home to the Queensland Cricket Association, Queensland Cricketers' Club and the Queensland Bulls cricket team, hosting international cricket matches in the summer. The final stage of a redevelopment, due for completion in mid-2005, will see the spectator capacity of the ground reach 42,000, all seated. The early stages of the redevelopment saw the playing field reconfigured to a shape and size almost identical to that of the Melbourne Cricket Ground.

Brisbane AirTrain Link

Brisbane & AirTrain Link :: CONSTRUCTION


The Airtrain Citylink facility is a high quality passenger rail service directly linking the domestic and international terminals at Brisbane Airport with existing Queensland Rail stations in the Brisbane Central Business District and the Gold Coast. The project is a partnership between the private sector and the Queensland Government. The private sector consortium, backed by Transfield, Macquarie Bank and Reduct Pty Ltd, will run the operation for 35 years after which ownership will transfer to the Queensland Government. The 8.5km elevated route connects to the existing Queensland Rail network at Toombul Shoppingtown between the Toombul and Eagle Junction railway stations. The construction method is insitu concrete ‘whale-tails' (a confined pier and head stock) on a capped pile foundation with pre-cast pre-stressed girders spanning the pier.
